Reimagining Community Conversations Tour
Grab your tickets here: https://linktr.ee/neobhc
We’re hitting the road across Northeast Ohio to bring neighbors, leaders, and community partners together for honest conversations about the challenges we face—like asthma, flooding, and food insecurity—and how we can solve them together.
These gatherings are all about:
- Hearing every voice—because real change starts with your lived experiences.
- Collaborative problem-solving—so we can build solutions that work for everyone.
- Understanding how environmental injustices—like poor air quality or unsafe housing—hurt our health and communities.
- Empowering residents—so we’re not just talking, but taking action and finding resources that make a difference.
Why come?
Because you deserve to be part of the conversation and the change. We’re stronger when we come together—whether that’s sharing stories, brainstorming solutions, or just being in the room where decisions are shaped.

Climate Resilience Regional Challenge
NOAA, Biden-Harris Administration announces $1.3 million for Cleveland project to Strengthen Climate-Ready Coasts initiative
Today, Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo announced that the Department of Commerce and NOAA have recommended $1.3 million for a Northeast Ohio Black Health Coalition (NEOBHC) project to make the state’s Lake Erie coast more resilient to climate change and other coastal hazards.
The nationally recognized NEOBHC is the first coalition in Ohio to focus exclusively on the African American community. Its mission is to create equity in the African American community by addressing the cumulative impact of racial, economic, environmental, and social justice inequities on education, employment, housing, and health by working to educate, advocate for, and empower the community.
The project, Building Resilience to Extreme Weather in Northeast Ohio, will establish a resilience hub of 30 community-based organizations in the region experiencing high poverty rates and climate change vulnerability.
“The primary focus is on extreme temperatures and the impact on public health in communities of concern,” said Yvonka M. Hall, NEOBHC Executive Director. “Through regional collaboration and local expertise, NEOBHC will address barriers to climate resilience, invest in climate literacy and public engagement and secure funding to implement resilience-focused projects.”
The effort builds on existing actions designed to address the disproportionate impacts of extreme weather and flooding in the region. It also builds capacity among the resilience hub organizations, thereby maximizing the breadth of community benefits.

Cuyahoga County Board of Health
Addressing Impacts of Climate Change In Cuyahoga County Using HIA's
Project Summary
The overall goal of this project is to help address the local environmental and public health issues of poor air quality, stormwater vulnerability, climate change, urban heat island effect, and disaster resiliency in overburdened areas of Cuyahoga County.
Specifically, areas of East Cleveland, Euclid, and Maple Heights have
disproportionately high environmental burdens including particulate matter, ozone, air toxics, and lead paint and health burdens including low life expectancy, heart disease, and asthma compared to the U.S. and state of Ohio. Additionally, these areas have low tree canopy cover contributing to urban heat island effects.
