ABOUT US
Founding the Northeast Ohio Black Health Coalition
Northeast Ohio Black Health Coalition (NEOBHC) has been standing in the gap for African American communities with an unwavering commitment to justice-informed public health.
We are the first organization in Ohio solely dedicated to addressing gaps in health, housing, and environmental outcomes among African American communities. Since 2011, NEOBHC has transformed from a grassroots collective into a leading voice for justice-informed public health in Northeast Ohio.
We’ve:
• Distributed PPE and food to thousands during COVID
• Trained residents in CPR and lead-safe practices
• Helped pass Cleveland’s lead-safe housing law
• Elevated men’s health, senior care, and safe streets
• Spearheaded green infrastructure and resilience projects in under-served neighborhoods
• Distributed air purifiers in nine Northeast Ohio counties
• Distributed 100 Brita Water Pitchers with the Elite/Longlast+ to at risk low income households with children

NEOBHC’s strength is in our ability to work across multiple sectors using unified approaches regarding education, advocacy and empowerment utilizing partnerships to specifically meet the unique needs of African Americans in Northeast Ohio.
NEOBHC holds the following guiding principles for:
• Health Equity and Health Care Disparities Elimination
• Capacity Building
• Community Empowerment
• Social Justice
• Environmental Resilience
